Experience Bottles for Books
We have collected over 4,000 bottles!
At Bottles for Books, education is at the forefront of what we’re working together towards. That being said, we also improve plastic pollution in Ridgefield by collecting empty bottles/cans from the Ridgefield citizens. Those bottles are then turned into money which can buy books for underpriveleged children in Bridgeport. Donate today and help bring positive change to our communities.
OUR MISSION
Bottles for Books is my proposed non-profit organization devoted to improving educations and with that, reducing pollution as well. The bottles collected will be turned in for money which will then go towards helping underprivileged students.

How It All Started
Summer Camp in Brewster
In the summer of 2021, my friends and I helped run a free summer camp for kids in Brewster where I was first exposed to the lack of books in many of the kids' homes. A particular kid stood out when he told me that he had been reading Harry Potter in school but he was unable to finish it as he did not have access to any books at his house. My friends and I decided to bring him the book the next day and his face lit up but I wanted to do more.
Ms. President US
In 2021, I was enrolled in Ms. President US, a girls civic leadership program, which culminates in an election for all the girls. After hearing the boy's story, there was no question as to what my campaign was going to be but I had to find a way to raise money for the books. That's when I came up with Bottles for Books!
The First Steps
As previously stated, the mission of Bottles for Books is to raise money through the proceeds of recycling bottles and put that money towards donating books to local organizations/shelters. Thanks to the many bottle donations from the people of Ridgefield, we have been able to raise over $200 in proceeds so far!
Issues We Address
Bringing Change
Pollution in Oceans
At Bottles for Books, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing this issue. It is estimated that about 17.6 billion pounds of plastic are dumped into the water each year. Although we can't get rid of all this plastic, we can bring small change to our communities.

Poverty in Bridgeport
With this initiative, our goal is to promote great opportunities for those in need. More than a THIRD of children living in Bridgeport are below the poverty line! Because of this, they don’t have the books or education supplies they need but through a partnership with Boys & Girls Club, I’ll be able to help many of these children in Bridgeport.

"Less pollution, more progression."
